This game is the seventh installment of the Call of Duty series and the first in a Cold War setting. It is a sequel to Call of Duty: World at War and the third in the series by Treyarch.

Sales set a record of 7 million copies sold in the first 24 hours. The previous record holder was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
